By Alison Bailin

Tickets are now available for the 2nd Weekend Jetaway, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and will feature live music, culinary creations from leading Valley chefs, cocktails and casino games set in a private jet hangar within the Scottsdale Airpark. During the event, guests will take part in a casino-style dice game, with several lucky winners taking home a multitude of lux prizes, including the grand prize – a luxurious all-inclusive, first-class trip on a private jet for four. Tickets are available now starting at $100, with VIP tickets starting at $200, at weekendjetaway.org.

Among the popular restaurants and beverage companies sampling scrumptious items from their Fall and Winter menus at the event are: Dominick’s Steakhouse, North Italian Farmhouse Kierland, Peñasco Tequila, Proof – An American Canteen, Sapporo Scottsdale, Sassi Scottsdale, SOL Cocina, Stella Artois, The Greene House and Tom’s Thumb Fresh Market. In addition, the event will also feature live entertainment via popular local cover band Retroactive as well as interactive photography with Clique Photo Station and David Blaine-style magicians mingling with the crowd.

A live and silent auction will also take place, with proceeds from the entire evening benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale (including the Vestar Branch!) and Pat Tillman Foundation, respectively.

“Last year, AXA Advisors Southwest dreamed up this special event as our way to give back to this great community,” says Dillan Micus, executive vice president of AXA Advisors Southwest. “Our team donated its time, money and more – and with the help of amazing partners, sponsors and party-goers, we were able to gross more than $70,000 in 2012. We welcome the community to come out for the best party of the fall to help us double this number!”

In addition, one of the Valley’s newest culinary events, Live & Local presented by GoDaddy, is set to take place on Sunday, November 3rd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall. This standout event is unique as it celebrates local businesses and benefits local youth, including those at the Boys & Girls Clubs Vestar Branch in Desert Ridge, the 2012 winner of top branch in the nation by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

With additional thanks to title sponsor NOVA Home Loans, in total, the event will feature over 40 local wine, spirit and restaurant tastings including Desert Ridge’s own Tryst Café as well as:

  • The Grind
  • RA Sushi Bar Restaurant
  • Carlsbad Tavern
  • Tom’s Thumb Fresh Market
  • Four Peaks Brewery
  • Sleepy Dog Saloon and Brewery
  • Prescott Brewing Company

To date, the event has also lined up a specialty tequila bar thanks to Roger Clyne’s Mexican Moonshine and 3 Amigos Tequila. In addition, Blanco’s Tacos will host festive sangrias stations and The Cider Mill will be brewing their own sodas for the event as well as hosting a “float station,” where participants will be able to create one-of-a-kind desserts.

The music lineup will be headlined by national recording artist Kelley James.

General Admission Tickets are on sale now starting at $50/each, and they include access to the main event and tastings. VIP Tickets start at $100/each, and they include additional VIP experiences. Tickets can be purchased online at www.liveandlocal.bgcs.org.

More food, wine, beer, spirit and musical acts to be added in coming weeks!
