A story of teamwork
“Those of you who drive that stretch of the road will soon see a change of name to Marriott Drive.”
Those who have driven the short strip of road from Tatum to Deer Valley Road have maybe wondered how confusing it must be for those not familiar with the area to see that Pathfinder turns into Marriott Drive. In early 2010 some members of the Glen Eagle Board of Desert Ridge had an idea that a possible name change could benefit all involved – visitors, locals, and the JW Marriott. A team approach was discussed as the possible solution to the problem. The JW Marriott was approached on what their reaction would be and it was positive. After the JW Marriott was on board with Glen Eagle the next group was the Desert Ridge Community Association which passed a resolution stating their support for the change. We then contacted our Councilman who became involved and provided his support. So when brought to the Phoenix City Council there was absolutely no opposition. Those of you who drive that stretch of the road will soon see a change of name to Marriott Drive. Steve Hart, JW Marriott General Manager, has said that we would soon see additional enhancements added to that area.
