Help Give Back Through Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale
Adopt-A-Family Program

By Caitlin Sageng

Each year children around the Desert Ridge community wait with great anticipation to open their Holiday gifts. Smiles are brought to the faces of many as they tear open their presents to find their favorite new doll, or a shiny new pair of shoes, or even that warm jacket that they have been eyeing in the store.  While this may be the case for many, there are also children who look to the Holidays with hope.  Hope that there will be a new pair of shoes to replace those they have out grown, or hope that they will have a new outfit to return to school in just like their friends. Hope for these important things, but uncertainty in knowing that it may not be their reality.
In an effort to help these families in need, the Vestar Branch at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale has created an Adopt-A-Family holiday program. Through the program you can either adopt a child, adopt an entire family, purchase a general “wish list” gift, or even simply make donation and staff will take care of the shopping. The various options of the Adopt-A-Family program help ensure every child and family has a meaningful holiday season.

To take part in the program, a tree will be set up in the Vestar Branch lobby beginning Monday, Nov. 17 (3975 E. Lockwood Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85050). Please stop by the Branch Monday through Friday to sign up for the Adopt-A-Family program. All of the donations will be collected at the Vestar Branch for proper distribution to all of the families.

“Each year over 100 Boys & Girls Club families are served by this program providing much needed new clothes, shoes, food, and toys,” says Caitlin Sageng, Branch Director at the Vestar Branch. “Thank you to the many community members that have been a part of this program and for those interested in supporting us this year, we truly appreciate helping ensure everyone in the Desert Ridge community has a very happy holiday season.”

Should you have more questions about the program please call the Vestar Branch at 480-585-0170.
