Toy Drive a Huge Success

By Officer Tim Mitten

I wanted to first say a big “THANK YOU” to everyone who donated or helped with our toy drive for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. It was a huge success as we were able to donate several hundred toys, games, stuffed animals, etc to the hospital which was used during Christmas and also will be throughout the year at PCH Toyland where all through the year, any child can get a toy.

I have attached some pictures of the toys being dropped off by the officers to the staff at PCH. After they were dropped off, myself and about 10 other officers went up to the 7th floor of PCH and went room to room, giving the toys to the kids on this floor, most who were battling very serous illnesses and would be in the hospital over the Christmas holiday. There were many smiles, some tears and alot of Thank you’s. We made sure the people knew it was their fellow citizens and families helping out these families during these hard times, as a majority of the toys were donated from the community.

This was an exceptional and unforgettable experience for everyone involved and I am humbled by the strength of these children as they fight these illnesses, inspired by the nurses, and staff who deliver exceptional, loving care to these children, it truly was a reminder of the Christmas season and what it stands for.

Thank you again to each and everyone of you for your continued support of the Phoenix Police Department as we continue to partner in making your community a better place to live.
