COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FUNDS NORTH PHOENIX PARK IMPROVEMENTS

Phoenix’s CashmanPark, 22222 N. 44th St., will be closed through mid-August for a big facelift courtesy of a $500,000 contribution from the Desert Ridge Community Association. The community kicked off the project with a groundbreaking celebration May 28.

“This is an example of the kind of positive solutions that can be fostered through public-private partnerships,” said Vice Mayor Waring. “I applaud the leadership of the Desert Ridge Community Association for putting our children first.

The donation will fund a new playground, fitness/workout stations and improvements to the 10-acre park’s irrigation system. Crews will begin work in the next week.

“The Desert Ridge community is a wonderful place to live and CashmanPark at Desert Ridge is integral to the quality of life that residents sought when moving here,” said resident Reginald Younger Jr., vice president of the Desert Ridge Community Association and chairman of the Cashman Park Exploratory Committee. “Keeping the park beautiful and updating these features will cement its central role in the life of Desert Ridge for years to come. The committee and its partners are proud to collaborate with the city of Phoenix on this wonderful project.”

The park, built in 1996, has several picnic ramadas with grills, lighted basketball courts, two lighted sand volleyball courts, a multi-purpose field, restrooms and a drinking fountain.
