PHOENIX—The Paradise Valley Unified School District centennial school year is underway and the district marked the occasion with a community celebration Oct. 19 at Shadow Mountain High School. Thousands of community residents and district families attended the free event along with the vice mayor of Phoenix and mayor of Scottsdale. Dignitaries included past governing board, superintendents and cabinet members, along with notable graduates that included an Olympic gold medalist and pro athletes, scientists, business owners and actors.  The event kicked off with a parade and included musical performances from students at all 44 schools.

Centennial events will continue throughout the year, and include the donations of 100 hours of community service by each of the governing board members and charitable works and projects by the students at each school. Community members are invited to join the celebration by visiting the Centennial web page at pvschools.net/centennial. You’ll find links to ….
