WORDS FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR

The holiday season is upon us.  It’s a time for cheer and it’s a time where we should reflect on being “neighborly,” enhancing our community through actions both big and small.  I love living in Desert Ridge because of its true sense of community.  In this Holiday Issue of Desert Ridge Lifestyles magazine, we like to highlight community events that make Desert Ridge the best neighborhood in Phoenix.  These events include traditions such as our festive decorative holiday lighting contest and movies in the park.  Activities like this provide character and beauty in Desert Ridge and give our community a way to enjoy the neighborhood as a group.  There are also events that are more fundamental to improving our community at its core, including Big Brothers & Big Sisters receiving a grant from the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation, and the establishment of a Desert Ridge Silent Witness program to keep our community safe.

I am confident I live in a neighborhood where we care about each other, and it’s reflected by our clean streets, priority on safety, and friendly greetings to each other.  As you read this issue of Desert Ridge Lifestyles Magazine, also note that the Desert Ridge Board has included a call for participation in Board elections next spring.  Participating on the Board is one of the best ways to give back to Desert Ridge and ensure our community continues to maintain the high standards that make us all proud.  A strong Board takes into account resident concerns when developing positive solutions.  These solutions have included authorization of funds to repair concrete intersections in our community that keep many of our neighbors up at night, ways to improve statement billing to ensure homeowner receipt, and the aforementioned grant to start the Desert Ridge Silent Witness program.   We will have 3 seats on the Board up for election next spring, and if serving the community through Board participation is something that interests you, contact our Community General Manager, First Service Residential at 480-551-4550.
