On Friday, October 26, Me The Artist will celebrate a successful first year in business by throwing a party to raise funds and awareness for Phoenix Youth at Risk, a local non-profit that helps at-risk and homeless children through structured mentoring programs.
The one-year anniversary party will take place at Me The Artist’s studio located at CityNorth from 5:30 – 9 p.m. and will include two complimentary painting sessions, appetizers, cocktails, raffle prizes and a live performance by Ruby City Unplugged.
Me The Artist provides instructor-led group painting activities for artists and non-artists alike at its studio space at CityCenter of CityNorth, as well as at private locations – like corporations, private homes and resorts. Popular private events include corporate trainings or retreats, baby/bridal showers, children’s birthday parties, hotel guest activities and more.
Through each informational, two or three-hour instructor-led session (known as a Me’vent), participants create a masterpiece (known as a Me’sterpiece). Groups can select what to paint from a wide variety of Me’sterpieces and individuals can select the ‘Me’sterpiece of the day’ as posted on the website calendar, register online and enjoy the experience at anytime.
In lieu of paint session fees, a minimum five-dollar donation will be accepted for Phoenix Youth at Risk. If you would like to make a reservations for the 6 or 8 p.m. paint sessions, visit www.metheartist.com or call 480.822.7999.
Me The Artists’ First Year
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 85% of small businesses fail within the first year. Ruby Farias, owner and founder of Me The Artist, agrees the first year wasn’t always easy, but is proud of the studio’s success and continued growth.
“We have defied the odds and are not only still open for business, but thriving,” said Farias. “We have built a loyal customer base who is constantly spreading the word about Me The Artist.”
Farias hosts Me’vents five days a week and has experienced consistent growth in attendance since opening last October. In-studio sessions accommodate 5-70 people, and events hosted at private locations can include more than 100.
As an ex-Valley banking executive and long-time hobby artist, Farias started Me The Artist to help people explore their creativity and relax through painting. “Painting is a great way to relieve stress – whether you are naturally creative or not,” said Farias.
Unlike traditional art classes, Me The Artist encourages a social atmosphere while painting. The end result – a frame-ready work of art – completed during each session. Attendees over the age of 21 are also welcome to bring their own adult beverage to enjoy during Me’vents.
