The People’s Open

The 2024 WM Phoenix Open returns to TPC Scottsdale this February 5 – 11

For one week out of the year, TPC Scottsdale transforms into a golf city, with white vinyl rising to the clear Arizona blue sky to signal the arrival of something truly spectacular. It can mean only one thing – the 89th WM Phoenix Open presented by Taylor Morrison is right around the corner. And just like fine wine, this event keeps getting better with age.

Affectionately known as “The People’s Open,” it’s more than just a golf tournament; it’s a testament to passion, tradition, and Arizona’s vibrant spirit. From February 5 to 11, TPC Scottsdale will be the stage for the world’s top golfers as they compete for glory, 500 FedEx Cup points, and the illustrious Waterford Crystal Thunderbird trophy.

The field is already taking shape as the first wave of player commitments have been announced that include World No. 1 and back-to-back WM Phoenix Open champion Scottie Scheffler, World No. 10 and reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, and 15-time PGA TOUR winner Justin Thomas. Scheffler is determined to etch his name alongside legends like Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, and Mark Calcavecchia as a three-time champion. In addition, Scheffler can become just the second player to three-peat since Palmer accomplished the feat from 1961-1963.

What sets the WM Phoenix Open apart is its electric atmosphere. The colossal gallery of enthusiastic fans creates an unrivaled sporting event, with the famous 16th hole serving as the epicenter of the excitement. Thousands of spectators turn 16 into a stadium-like arena, cheering and jeering in ways you won’t see at any other golf event (makes for great people watching). But that’s not all – the tournament’s history, dating back to 1932, is a story of innovation and tradition seamlessly intertwined. It’s a celebration of not just golf, but of Arizona itself. The 2023 WM Phoenix Open was recognized by the PGA TOUR as the Co-Tournament of the Year with the BMW Championship and the Best Title Sponsor Integration with WM as the largest zero-waste sporting event in the world, proving itself as a leader in sports sustainability.

Saturday before tournament week kicks off, the Concert in the Coliseum takes center stage with a rock concert inside the loudest hole in golf. Named Best Special Event by the PGA TOUR in 2023, it is one of the most sought-after events at the tournament. Last year, Maroon 5 rocked the iconic 16th hole. Now in its third edition, the lineup promises to be just as thrilling with global phenomenon Post Malone set to perform inside one of the most unique concert venues in sports on Feb. 3, 2024.

While the 16th hole is a must-experience, it’s far from the only attraction offered at the WM Phoenix Open. In addition, fans with general admission tickets will have access to several viewing areas throughout the course, including The Fairway House Presented by Taylor Morrison, a venue that sits at the highest point on the TPC Scottsdale grounds and features several food and beverage options, seating and shade and 360 views of four holes to catch all the PGA TOUR action. Look for the 50-foot American Flag on top to find your way there.

For those looking to take a breather, the expanded Fan Zone is the place to be with space to gather, grab some great food and drinks, refill your water bottles, or simply relax before diving back into the action.

In addition to golf, there’s the Coors Light Birds Nest, a four-night concert series that adds a layer of excitement and entertainment to the weeklong festivities. Top-tier musical acts transform this space into an electric stage where sports enthusiasm merges with a festival-like ambiance. Furthermore, the 2024 WM Phoenix Open plans to heat up with a star-studded lineup featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry.

Join us for a star-studded lineup featuring 2022 ACM award winner HARDY and country’s new smash hit Bailey Zimmerman on Wednesday, Feb. 7, followed by another night of country with local hometown favorite Dierks Bentley on Thursday, Feb. 8.

A first for the Coors Light Birds Nest, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band Duran Duran will hit the stage on Friday, Feb. 9, while internationally-acclaimed DJ Kygo will close out the week on Saturday, Feb. 10.

While this is a golf tournament, it’s not just about sports – it’s about giving back. The WM Phoenix Open is a philanthropic juggernaut that has powered Arizona for nearly a century with more than $190 million in charitable giving since its inception. The Thunderbirds, the tournament’s charitable arm and hosts, have raised more than $14.5 million in 2023 alone, demonstrating the tournament’s commitment and mission to community engagement and development. The legacy of giving back in a big way is at the heart of the WM Phoenix Open.

The WM Phoenix Open remains a bucket-list event on the PGA TOUR. Whether you’re a golf fanatic, prolific partier, concert connoisseur or you just have the fear of missing out (FOMO as the kids these days call it), the WM Phoenix Open has something for everyone. Join us Feb. 5-11 at TPC Scottsdale for the 89th edition of “The People’s Open”.
