Run for Ryan House Family Fun Run

The Desert Ridge® Parents’ Group is all about having fun with our kids.  A group from DRPG participated in the 12th Annual Run for Ryan’s House 1-Mile Family Fun Run at DC Ranch on Sunday, March 13th as one of our kids’ activities.  This event was perfect for the kids and parents alike.

Run for Ryan House is a running event (half marathon, 10K/5K, and 1-mile family fun run) dedicated to children and families.  Not only is this event family-friendly, but it benefits children and families served by Ryan House.  Ryan’s House provides pediatric palliative care to both children and the families caring for them.  100% of the entry fee goes directly to support the mission of Ryan House.

Ronald McDonald led the kids in stretching before the run and Howler the Phoenix Coyote Mascot was there to cheer them on!  All family fun entrants received a race medal upon completion of the run.  The kids had a blast and it was great to show up as a family and support such a wonderful cause.  For more information about our kids’ activities and how to become apart of our group please visit our website www.drpgonline.com.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Desert Ridge® Parents’ Group sure knows how to celebrate spring.  Over 30 families came out to enjoy the beautiful weather for our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Cashman Park.  This year Susana Crane (Craft Night Coordinator) along with Debbie Fitzmaurice, put on an Eggstravaganza!

The morning was full of fun activities.  Members enjoyed planting wildflower seeds, a cupcake decorating station, photo booth, pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, and lots of yummy desserts. Kids got hopping in a bunny potato sack race and enjoyed an Easter hat parade with prizes.  The Easter bunny worked hard the night before preparing over 1,000 eggs for the Hunt!

During the event we collected donations and gently used toys and children’s items for United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona. The UCP has been serving children and families for over 60 years in AZ and is opening a new downtown location.  The donations and items collected went to the new Children’s Therapy Center.

It was a fun, festive morning and everyone had an Egg-tastic time!  Our group is already looking forward to the 2017 Egg Hunt. This event was sponsored by John Prescott and Jacie Coleman with Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International.  For more information about our group please visit our website www.drpgonline.com and like us on Facebook!
