According to The Washington Post, schools are ranked through an index formula — the number college-level tests given at the school during the previous calendar year divided by the number of graduates that year. Also included are the percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced lunches and the percentage of graduates who passed at least one college-level test during their high school career.
