Fireside Elementary – It Was A Great Year!

FiresideIt Was a Great Year!

What an amazing year it has been at Fireside Elementary! I was welcomed by an outstanding staff, extremely supportive and excited parents, and wonderful students who make every day at Fireside fun and rewarding. This beautiful school is filled with dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to support student learning and ensure that all students are growing academically, socially, and emotionally. We also have an outstanding support staff that always has our students’ safety as their top priority.

We have enjoyed many fun and successful events hosted by our awesome PTO — family nights, after school treats, book fairs, bingo night, silent auction, AZ Air Time, and talent show. The yearbook committee produced an incredible yearbook this year. The staff at Fireside is so thankful for all of the wonderful lunches and dinners that our PTO provided during late night conferences and professional development days. And PTO planned an amazing Dr. Seuss-themed teacher appreciation week that treated our teachers like stars. I am proud to share that this year our PTO gave back in a number of ways to support other schools in our district that do not have the same financial support that Fireside PTO has. We plan to continue giving back this next year and find ways to help out neighboring schools in different ways.

We also have a strong and caring student council that concentrated their efforts this year to giving back. They organized, packed, and delivered 35 thanksgiving boxes for our sister school, Echo Mountain Primary, and collected hundreds of cans of food to support the Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank. They also raised $2,400 for local charity, Arizona Helping Hands, to help purchase cribs and bedding for children in foster care. Our chorus, band, and strings students have showcased their talents at several venues this year. We were well represented this year at the district field day. Our students are intelligent, talented, and caring and make every day a great day at Fireside.

I want to thank everyone for all of the support I received this year. I consider myself a lucky person to be part of the Fireside community and I look forward to the next amazing school year!!

Peace,

Teresa Simmons
