MAKING IT GREAT!
I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude to the Explorer Middle School community. First, a big shout out to the students who have all been open and friendly, and so much fun to work with. Second, a warm thank you to the parents that place their trust in me everyday with their children. And last but surely not least, a sincere thank you to the Explorer MS staff and teachers for their tireless work for the good of all the students.
When a new principal arrives at an already great school, the question becomes, how can we make this even greater. Well, what I decided to do was watch, observe, and enjoy. And that has been a blast! When I visit a classroom, to many people’s surprise, my favorite thing to do is observe the student interaction with each other, and the sharing of information that passes between the teacher and the students. To hear and see the student’s point of view is so enlightening.
At Explorer MS we are so lucky to have an array of extracurricular activities to offer students. The primary function of school is education, but seeing the students participate in athletics, fine arts, or enrichment activities is where one can see student’s shine outside of the classroom. Middle School is all about the whole child, and these activities give students and families an opportunity to grow in all areas.
We have an exciting new change I want to share with all of you. Starting this Fall we will have a 7th grade Camp the day before school starts. This Camp will give students the chance to meet new friends, meet new teachers, walk their schedule, play some games, eat lunch, hear from a panel of former students, and ask questions about Middle School. Our hope is this will ease their (and their parents) worries about leaving behind a comfortable setting of Elementary School and transitioning into a whole new chapter of their lives.
Summer Time!
Education is the one truly unusual profession in that every year we have a new beginning, a chance to start fresh again. As our school year comes to an end it is a time to reflect, to learn from what we have experienced, and to think about how we
can improve.
This year has been an amazing year for me and I look forward to the 2017-2018 with great excitement and optimism. I am excited to partner with all Explorer families to help them and their children receive the best possible education. I would like to thank everyone for supporting me as the principal
of Explorer MS.

Be Happy!
