SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (August 17, 2015) — Celebrate a last “wintery” blast of summer this Labor Day Weekend as The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa delivers cool family fun with eight tons of snow, 1,000 pounds of ice and a synthetic ice rink as it presents the Labor Day Weekend Big Chill.
Activities for Resort guests will include:
- The Whiteout – The Resort will host a mid-morning snowfall with eight tons of snow for kids of all ages to enjoy on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6.
- The Polar Pool – Temperatures will drop at the Adventure Pool as 1,000 pounds of ice are dropped into the pool on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
- The Chill Zone – Guests will be invited to head indoors to the Chill Zone ballroom for showings of chilly animated big-screen favorites.
Glacier Glide – On the evenings of Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5, guests can enjoy a cool spin around the Resort’s synthetic ice rink overlooking the golf course. Skate rentals are $10 per person. This activity is also open to the public. - The Splish Splash – From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 and Sept. 6, the Resort will offer three inflatable water slides: a 24-foot tall “Super” water slide, a 19-foot tall slide and, for small children, a 10-foot tall water slide with a splash pool at the bottom. Adding to the cool, watery fun will be a two-lane Slip and Slide and an inflatable Water Balloon Battle game with built-in water balloon launchers and a bucket of water balloon for each participant. Admission to The Splish Splash is $10 per person for a single day entry or $15 per person for a two-day entry.
The fun continues with a frozen t-shirt obstacle course and water limbo, Jack’s Smokin’ BBQ on Friday and Saturday evening, poolside games, and s’mores. As always, guests can also cool off surfing and bodyboarding on the Kierland FlowRider wave simulator, in the 900-foot-long lazy river and on a 110-foot waterslide – all at the Resort’s Adventure Water Park.
