The Desert Ridge® Parents’ Group

The Desert Ridge® Parents’ Group (DRPG) is a fun-filled organization for parents and children in the North Phoenix area. All families in the Desert Ridge® community are invited to check out our activities and events! Founded in 1997, the not-for-profit Desert Ridge® Parents’ Group (DRPG) hosts playgroups, kids’ and family activities, seasonal events and parents-only nights for residents in Desert Ridge and surrounding areas. This summer we have at least one kids’ and one parents’ activity every week. Membership dues are only $30 per year.

Visit www.DRPGonline.com to learn more, check out our events calendar and to become a member online.

All of us Arizonans love Arizona, but dread the summer months. As the mercury starts rising and being outdoors becomes more and more limited, we all rattle our brains to come up with activities to keep our kids sufficiently occupied.

However, if you are a part of DRPG, this is not something that you really worry about. You know that be it spring or summer, you will still have a busy social calendar and good friends for you and your kids to have fun with. We do activities for kids of all ages and you can do as much or as little as you like. Below is a snapshot of some activities that we did as a group last summer:

You don’t have figure out what to do on a hot summer day or how to pass those never ending afternoon hours by yourself. We learn about so many new places to go to by sharing our knowledge as a group. The best part is that you have friends to have an adult conversation with while the kids enjoy forming new friendships and playing with their friends. Over the years, we have discovered places that are free and also some great indoor play areas where we often get group discounts. Some of the places we have play dates at, are:
• Imagination Avenue
• Jambo! Park
• Pump it Up!
• Jump street
• Arizona Museum for Youth
• Alltel Ice Den
• Speed Street
• AZ Air Time
• McDonald’s kids area
• PV Mall kids area (free!)
• Scottsdale Fashion Square
kids area (free!)
• Barnes & Noble kids corner (free!)
• Public Libraries (free!)

We have an online forum where members can access the calendar of scheduled activities. This way you know what activities are scheduled that week, month etc. Other than these scheduled activities, members also post impromptu get-togethers on the forum i.e. if a member is going to the Chick-fil-a for lunch and would like to see if someone else is available for company, they can post on the online forum and invite other members to join them.
Don’t be alone this summer. Join in the fun at DRPG! Become a member today by checking us out at our website www.DRPGonline.com. You will be glad you did!
