Everything is better in Desert Ridge

The Desert Ridge Lifestyles (DRL) Committee continues to bring successful events and activities to the community. It gives me great pleasure to share that the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Scramble on Friday, April 19th was a huge success and there was a tremendous turnout of residents and public. This event was enjoyed by all ages searching for 10,000 eggs, enjoying train rides, games, and inflatable bounce houses and food trucks. A special appreciation to our event partners, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation, Desert City Church, AAA Landscape, Phoenix DJ and other vendors for the support and partnership in making this a memorable and successful event. Also, thanks to our residents that attended — with your ongoing support our events will continue to grow.

The 2018-2019 Farmers Market on High was brought to the Desert Ridge Community every Sunday from October 28, 2018 through May 12, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Due to the tremendous support from the community and public, we are happy to announce the next Farmers Market season will resume on Sunday, October 6, 2019 and continue through June 21, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Lifestyles Committee thanks ScanlanKemperBard, Arizona Community Farmers Market, and the supporting vendors for bringing this market to Desert Ridge.

The DRL Lifestyles Committee is happy to share that the Desert Ridge semi-annual Spring Mega Community-Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, April 6th yielded 2,540 pounds of reusable goods that were donated by our residents. This event benefits Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona and our five (5) neighborhood schools by providing jobs in the community and supplies for our schools. If you were unable to be a part of this event, you don’t want to miss the next community-wide yard sale slated for Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to declutter your homes just before the holidays.

Also, Desert Ridge Community Association, in partnership with Pinnacle High School and Explorer Middle School has formed the DRCA Youth Committee. This committee had their first meeting in mid-May and will assist in the implementation of structured community events for the enjoyment and fulfillment of the youth in the Desert Ridge community. The management team and the committee will continue to meet bi-monthly.

Lastly, we are happy to announce that the community socials will start with our Community “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at CB Live. This is a wonderful way to kick start our season of mingling with neighbors, friends, and making new friends from our community. The community socials have grown throughout the years, and the Lifestyles Committee is excited to bring you more enjoyable events and activities in the 2019-2020 season.

We encourage all residents in the community to visit the Desert Ridge Lifestyles website at desertridgelifestyles.com for more exciting events and activities coming to Desert Ridge. Also, we invite you to attend and share your thoughts and ideas at our Lifestyles Committee meetings held monthly on the third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Desert Ridge office.
