From the Lifestyles Chair – FUN ACTIVITIES FOR ALL
Once again our community at Desert Ridge has enjoyed a myriad of fun and successful activities that help make Desert Ridge the leading community that it is. Through the hard work of friends and neighbors, the Lifestyle Committee members and the Board, we had a series
of activities for all.
FARMERS MARKET ON HIGH STREET
The Farmers Market at High Street continues to be a large success. The number of our vendors and local farmers has grown to 125 this season. We have seen attendance of up to 3,000 friends and neighbors for each market day. We look forward to growing our community Farmers Market on High Street as we return for our 2nd season this fall in October.
EASTER EGG SCRAMBLE
We had a beautiful evening for our 1st Easter Egg Scramble at Reach 11 Sports Complex on Friday, March 30th. It was well attended and there were over 10,000 eggs to be found, as well as music, food and inflatables bounce houses and slides for the kids of all ages. A good time was had by all. Also, I would like to thank and recognize Desert Ridge Community Association, Desert City Church, City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation, AAA Landscaping and all our volunteers from our local Vestar Branch Boys and Girls Club and Pinnacle High School for their partnership in helping to make our inaugural Easter Egg Scramble at Reach 11 a tremendous success.
DESERT RIDGE COMMUNITY WIDE SEMI-ANNUAL MEGA YARD SALE
As we do twice each year, on April 7th we held our Desert Ridge Semi–Annual Community Wide MEGA Yard Sale for over 5,500 residences to participate. The committee would like to thank our neighbors in the community for providing donations benefiting Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona and our 5 local schools in Desert Ridge. The next Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, November 3rd from 7 AM to 2 PM.
LADIES NIGHT OUT AND COMMUNITY NIGHT OUT
We have enjoyed great community attendance and success with the Ladies Night Out and Sports Night Out. We are pleased that more residents of the Desert Ridge community are continuing to attend and help grow these events. Our “Sports Night Out” social is being changed to “Community Night Out” when our community socials return this fall; to reflect the overall and broader participation of the residents that attend the event. We are looking forward to the continued growth of these social activities and invite all to attend during our next season. Stay tuned for upcoming dates and locations.
As always, we encourage all members of our community to attend our Lifestyle Committee meetings held the 2nd Thursday of the odd numbered calendar months at 8 AM at the Desert Ridge offices. We welcome your ideas and thoughts not only at meetings, but at any time.
