After a long time waiting, Fox Restaurant Concept has now opened a Flower Child in Desert Ridge. The grand opening of this restaurant was anxiously on our astute restaurant reviewers’ calendar from the first announcement of Flower Child opening in the North Phoenix area…and came at the right time during summer when the temperature was reaching triple digits, and it is too hot to cook or eat something heavy.
Flower Child has a trendy, casual, health-conscious, and colorful country farmers market décor, coupled with a friendly hostess that greets you at the door to assist with your dining selections from their extensive menu and to provide recommendations of their most popular dishes.
This is a unique fast-healthy food concept restaurant that caters to walk-in dining. The short distance from the door to the friendly hostess to place your order may be problematic if you’re with a large group or may be overwhelming for someone that is just dining for the first time. However, the experience and healthy selections are well worth the occasional wait one may encounter depending on the time of day.
Our food group menu selections comprised a variety of healthy meals prepared with naturally raised proteins and ingredients that could be found in the starters, salads, main course, and bowls dishes. The kitchen staff provided an excellent presentation of the Thai Cashew Quinoa Bowl with Chicken, Thai Cashew Quinoa Bowl with Salmon, the Mother Earth, and Mac & Cheese with Salmon that were served with vibrant colored greens, vegetables and additional ingredients that were mouthwatering and worth taking a picture to share with others.
The Thai Cashew Quinoa Bowl with Chicken and/or salmon was dish filled with zucchini, snap pea, celery, onion, shitake mushroom, jalapeno, Thai basil, cashew, and red quinoa that was enjoyed immensely.
Another delectable prepared dish that was enjoyed is the Mother Earth salad. This dish is filled healthy ingredients such as ancient grains, sweet potato, Portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli, pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper, miso vinaigrette, and hemp seed. This meal was delicious and filling. For those that enjoy gluten-free Mac & Cheese with salmon, this plate had just the right portion even for those with hefty appetites.
The friendly staff were very attentive, courteous, and made accommodations for a large group on the patio area where we were seated comfortably under umbrellas to protect us from the intense summer sun. While we dined under the shade of the umbrellas, outdoor dining would have been much more comfortable in the intense August heat if they had misters or fans to cool the diners.
We have all heard it said that it is expensive to eat healthier, but the benefits are priceless. This is true as the price to dine at Flower Child is moderately pricey, but well worth the culinary value.
Our panel welcomes Flower Child to Desert Ridge! Flower Child provides wonderful service, clean earthly atmosphere, and deliciously healthy dishes. This is a restaurant you’ll want to experience on your next visit to the Desert Ridge Marketplace.
