Looking for a New Pet?
With more than 35,000 dogs and cats entering our shelters each year, MCACC has plenty of animals in search of loving homes. We encourage you to visit one of our adoption locations so that you can view the animals in person and get a feel for their personality. Not sure where we are located? What’s Included in Pet Adoption?
Our adoption fees range from $0 to $150. Upon entry at our shelters, most dogs are given a 4-in-1 vaccination, Bordetella vaccination and flea/tick treatment. Adopted dogs ages three months of age and older also receive a rabies vaccination and County dog license/tag as part of their adoption fee. Cat s receive a 3-in-1 vaccination when they arrive at our shelters (cats are not required to be rabies vaccinated or licensed in Maricopa County).
All animals adopted from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control must be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the shelter. If the cat or dog you adopt has not yet been altered, he/she may need to stay an extra day or two for surgery.
Pets and Vets Program Helps U.S. Veterans
In recognition and appreciation of U.S. veterans’ service to our country, MCACC’s Pets and Vets program waives adoption fees for pets adopted by veterans. Adopters participating in the Pets and Vets program will be responsible for paying the $17 license fee for adopted dogs (there is no fee for cats). Veterans wishing to participate in the Pets and Vets program are asked to provide verification of veteran, reservist or active duty status. We will accept the following verification documents: Military ID, DD214 Military Discharge Certificate, Honorable Discharge Certificate, Letter for the U.S. Military Center in St. Louis or Letter from the Maryland Veterans Administration Service Program.
